TURN2 Lab#1 – Experiencing Nairobi as Felt Time

I had the honor to be invited as one of 25 artists and curators to the TURN2 Lab in Nairobi. Using the invitation ‘Felt time is a shared object that we negotiate together’ (Sonia Lousie Davis), the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute and the TURN Programme invited artists, curators, researchers, urban planners, and other creative practitioners from Europe and African countries to be part of a 3-day workshop in Nairobi.

  • How do you feel time?
  • What remains of the felt time?
  • What passages of time are evident in teh archives?
  • What permissions are allowed in engaging with the archive?

What permissions do we allow ourselves as we engage with archives?
These were some of the key questions we explored in the TURN2 Lab at NCAI (Nairobi Contemporary Art institute). We discovered the city as an archive, the archive as an document and we addressed socially engaged pratices.

The TURN2 Lab was initiated and funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, designed by NCAI/Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute and supported by Goethe Institute Nairobi.
