Das Theaterfestival verwandelte das Theater Hebbel am Ufer/HAU in Berlin in ein Hotel. Das Hotel Prishtina, welches sinnbildlich für die Dienstleistungsstrukturen, die im Kosovo für die so genannten „Internationalen“, die dem jungen Land bei seiner Staatengründung helfen sollen, entstanden sind. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob das jüngste Land Europas tatsächlich unabhängig ist oder ob die Kosovaren eine Dienstleistungsgesellschaft der Internationalen im eigenen Land bleibt.
Die Schriftstellerin Kathrin Röggla stellte ihren Briefwechsel mit dem kosovarischen Theaterregisseur und Dramatiker Jeton Neziraj über kosovarischen Alltag und Befindlichkeiten vor. „Lobby Talks“ beschäftigen sich mit der zeitgenössischen Kunst im Kosovo, der Zivilgesellschaft und der Situation im Land ein Jahr nach der Unabhängigkeit. Im „Schatzi TV“ kamen so genannte „Schatzis“, in Deutschland lebende Kosovaren, in Videointerviews zu Wort, der Künstler Dren Maliqi zeigte seine Werke in einer 48stündigen Ausstellung und der kosovarische Künstler Sokol Beqiri versorgte das Publikum mit selbstgebranntem Raki und Fingerfood. Daneben gab es Hotelzimmer mit Audioinstallationen, ein Hip-Hop-Konzert des nicht nur im Kosovo gefeierten Rappers Bim Bimma sowie einen Waren-Getränke-Musik-Automaten mit Produktion und Geschichten aus dem Kosovo zum mitnehmen.
The Theaterfestival transformed the Theater Hebbel am Ufer/HAU in Berlin into a hotel. The Hotel Prishtina, which symbolizes the service structures that were created in Kosovo for the so-called “Internationals” to help the young country establish its own state. The question arises as to whether the youngest country in Europe is actually independent or whether the Kosovars will remain a service society of the international in their own country.
The writer Kathrin Röggla presented her correspondence with the Kosovar theatre director and playwright Jeton Neziraj about Kosovar everyday life and sensitivities. “Lobby Talks” deal with contemporary art in Kosovo, civil society and the situation in the country one year after independence. In “Schatzi TV”, so-called “Schatzis”, Kosovars living in Germany, had their say in video interviews, the artist Dren Maliqi showed his works in a 48-hour exhibition and the Kosovar artist Sokol Beqiri provided the audience with self-burned raki and finger food. In addition, there were hotel rooms with audio installations, a hip-hop concert by the rapper Bim Bimma, not only celebrated in Kosovo, as well as a automat for items, drinks and music with production and stories from Kosovo to take away.
