Das waren die zentralen Themen, über die Celina Basra und ich mit den Künstlern Chris Watts und Elke Foltz während der Eröffnung von Chris Watts‘ Einzelausstellung Chasing Shadows Vol. 1 in der Bode Gallery in Berlin am 30. Oktober 2025 gesprochen haben. Ein Tischgespräch. Ein THINKING ALOUD. Und weil wir auch über Musik und Literatur kommunizieren, baten wir die beiden Künstler, einen Song und ein Buch mitzubringen. Wir hörten Lieder von Chantress Seba, Black Truck von Mereba und sprachen über die Bücher „Un chant écarlat“ von Mariama Bâ und Radical Dharam von Kyodo Williams. Ein vertrauliches Gespräch über Kunst, Materialität, Spiritualität, Zugehörigkeit, Literatur und Musik – wie zu Hause am Küchentisch, aber mitten im White Cube der Galerie

Making the invisible visible, alternative cosmologies, art as a healing practice. These were the central themes that Celina Basra and I discussed with artists Chris Watts and Elke Foltz during the opening of Chris Watts‘ solo exhibition Chasing Shadows Vol. 1 at Bode Gallery in Berlin on 30 October 2025. A table talk. A THINKING ALOUD. And because we also communicate through music and literature, we asked the two artists to bring a song and a book with them. We listened to songs by Chantress Seba, to Black Truck by Mereba and talked about the book Un chant écarlat by Mariama Bâ and Radical Dharam by Kyodo Williams. An intimate talk about art, materiality, spirituality, belonging, literature and music – like at home at the kitchen table, but in the middle of the gallery’s white cube.
